This page explains what information ranjanajoshi.com collects, why, and what your options are. It's written in plain language on purpose — if anything here is unclear, email joshiranjana2020@gmail.com and ask.
What this site collects
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects things like which pages you viewed, roughly how long you stayed, what device/browser you're using, and an approximate location derived from your IP address (city-level at most — not your exact address). It does not collect your name or email through this.
The reader list. If you sign up for the free short story or the reader list, we collect your email address and, optionally, your first name. This is sent to MailerLite, the email service used to send you the free story and occasional new-release emails. It is not sold, and it is not used for anything beyond what's described on the signup form.
Buy links. When you click a "Buy on Amazon" link, it briefly passes through this site's own redirect (so you land on the right country's Amazon store) before sending you on to Amazon. That redirect uses your approximate location for that one instant to pick the right store — it isn't logged or stored anywhere by this site.
This site does not process payments, and does not collect payment or card information — all purchases happen on Amazon, under Amazon's own privacy policy.
Who else sees this data
Three services this site relies on can access parts of the information above, each under their own privacy policy: Google (Analytics), MailerLite (email delivery), and Netlify (hosting). None of them are permitted to use this data to advertise to you on our behalf.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish one visitor from another across a session. You can block or delete these at any time in your browser's privacy settings, or use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking cookies won't affect your ability to read anything on this site or buy any book.
Your options
Every email from the reader list includes an unsubscribe link — one click removes you immediately. If you'd like your email address deleted from MailerLite entirely, or have any other question about your data, email joshiranjana2020@gmail.com and it'll be handled directly.
Children
This site isn't directed at children, and the reader list isn't knowingly signed up by anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If what this site collects or how it's used changes meaningfully, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Checking back occasionally is the only way to stay current — there's no separate notification for policy changes.
